Elaine Kryzanowski’s exhibit "The Way I See It" opened on Saturday and continues until September 25. At the time of writing this column I haven’t seen her paintings yet so I will give you a bit more background. Elaine will have some of her earlier paintings with explanations of the different painting techniques used. As I am typing up some labels for her show this one struck me "At this stage of my artistic exploration I was doing mostly portraits. It was so much fun to enter the studio each morning to be greeted by these faces. As I moved about the studio their eyes seemed to follow".
The paintings in her show are a collection of memories of the good life. Elaine likes realism and all mediums are challenging. Elaine’s words: "Too many of us are rushing thru life; we need to stop and enjoy our surroundings and pass it on to our children. I’ve had this talent since I was a kid; it just took a long time for me to get down to it. If it brings the happiness to others that it’s brought to me and my family then it’s worth the effort". So take time from your busy schedules and come down and see Elaine’s show.
Elaine would also like to thank the Ontario Arts Council for an Exhibition Assistance grant she received which helped with the cost of framing. Applications are being accepted by the gallery for these Exhibition Assistance grants now. If you are an Ontario resident you can apply for these grants for exhibitions at the Pictograph Gallery or elsewhere. Please submit your applications to the gallery by October 15, 2010. Just a reminder about the Flea Market “Deals and Steals” Sept. 28-30. If you have anything to donate please drop it off at the gallery or call Andrea Allison (597-2554) for pickup.
The Gallery will be open Sept. 7-25, noon to 3 pm. (Tues.-Sat.) for Elaine’s show. Remember to check out the flea market where you pay no tax. Thanks for supporting the Gallery.
