Janice Andrew's show entitled “Turning Towards Home” is fast drawing to a close. This fascinating display of intriguing abstract artistry will not only affect you on the emotional and spiritual level but the physical as well. It will literally give you” butterflies” if you let it. Janice's compositions are drawn from natural images and impressions. She strives to capture the essence and energy of those influences through colour and movement and the interpretation of light. Her surroundings, her environment, be they urban or natural as well as her life in the present moment have merged at the juncture of her subject matter and process. This immediacy has been transferred to the canvas. Come and view the mystery Janice has evoked through the intuitive space between the real and the abstract, the emotional and the spiritual. Janice's show closes on May 22. You still have time.

Mark May 25 to May 29 on your calendar. It is the opportunity you have been waiting for. The Gallery is once again holding an “Arts, Antiques and Collectibles Silent Auction”. We have an amazing selection of items for your viewing pleasure. Local as well as area artists have contributed beautiful pieces ranging from paintings, basketry, stitchery to name a few. We have antique furniture, household items, apparel, tools. The list goes on and on and of course we have the collectibles. Wait until you see the collectibles!!! This is a fun event and of course you can come down as often as you want and put a bid in. The Gallery will be open from 12:00 until 5:00 pm for the duration of the Auction except on Saturday, May 29 when we will close at 4:00.

June will also be a very exciting month for the Gallery. Brian Holden, a Thunder Bay printmaker, will be having a show with us and also holding a workshop on June 25 and 26th. This is a fantastic opportunity to try your hand at a new and versatile craft. We will be making prints that can be turned into greeting cards, stationary, posters, bookmarks, to name a few. I hope to be making my own Christmas cards. Contact Andrea Allison at 597-2554 or the Gallery at 597 4344 if you are interested in signing up for Brian's workshop.

The Gallery is located in the basement of the Voyageur Mall. Our hours are Tuesday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 3:00pm.
