Pictograph Newsletter for Jan. 25, 2010
January 25, 2010
Valerie Fraser "Elemental Worlds" by Jonathan Lewis continues this week at The Pictograh Art Gallery. The exhibit closes on Saturday Jan. 30, 2010. Jonathan states that his painting titled "Stone Path" was inspried by a walk through the forest. He thought that looking at the ground could be as interesting as looking at a horizon. Another painting titled "Evening" is completely imaginary not based on a particular place. Jonathans' paintings are soothing and inspirational. He has made an impact with his exhibit on local aspiring artist to experiment with oils. Jonathan plans to continue to experiment with other methods of creating physical and textural paintings. Artists are always challenging themselves to create more or better, in Jonathans case he has grown as an artist to discover that the mere brush to canvas is no longer stimulating enough and plans to experiment with other textural mediums to add to his body of work. It will be interesting to see how his future works evolve. The Ontario Arts Council wish to encourage artists growth in their chosen medium and help with supporting grants. "Elemental Worlds" is the recipient of such an exhibition assitance grant. Jonathan Lewis and The Pictograph Art Gallery wish to express their appreciation to The Ontario Arts Council for their ongoing support. Plan to take in this fine exhibit in its final week, don't forget to sign Jonathans guest book. Another exciting exhibit is about to be launched on Feb. 6, 2010. Past Atikokanite Carol Houle nee Fraser, returns to her home town to showcase one of her many artistic talents. Carols' exhibit will be a work in sculptural minatures. Hope I've peaked your curiosity. Watch for posters and next weeks newsletter for more.
