Pictograph Newsletter for August 24, 2009 Alisha Gosselin
This week at the Pictograph Gallery on Saturday the 29th, we are closing the Quetico Juried Art Exhibition, and when this article comes out in the paper Monday, I will have already finished my position at the Gallery. Thank you to the board for hiring me, as I thoroughly enjoyed my summer job, and I look forward to studying Fine Arts in Post-Secondary in a few years. Working at the Gallery gave me a wonderful opportunity to immerse myself in arts in the region, and for the chance to run an arts gallery almost exclusively by myself at times. Thank you to Lori McCluskey and the rest of the board for letting me have free reign with these articles, with creating signs and displays, and for letting me take an idea and run with it. That was very liberating. In September, there will be a floor cloth workshop hosted by the Pictograph Gallery, at a location to be announced. It will consist of decorating and painting a canvas floor cloth over a two-day workshop period. It will take place on the 26th and 27th of September, and will cost $140.00 for registration, plus the fee for materials. There must be a minimum of 8 people registered by September 12th for the workshop to go ahead. You can register at the Pictograph Gallery, and registration money will be refunded if the workshop is cancelled. We will take a maximum of 15 people, so register now! For more information, call the Pictograph Gallery at 597-4344. We’re open Monday to Saturday, 11 to 4. Even though this is the last article I will be writing, it may not be the last you’ve heard of me! At the moment, we are ironing out details on an exhibition for yours truly, and I hope to have an exhibit at your very own local art gallery before I head off to university in 2011. Between school and regular life, I will also be travelling around the world, like my favourite teacher did. After completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I hope to become an art teacher, and perhaps even get a job at our high school! That would be if we lived in a perfect world, and everything worked out for us. Alas, it does not, but I can assure you I will be around for a while, always stopping in to visit my favourite town in Northwestern Ontario! Ciao!
Thank you for stopping in to see our Gallery and Gift Shop.
We hope you enjoyed your visit and will return.
