Blessing of the Snow " The Spirit of the snow gives us a different view of nature. The spirit of giving inspires us to give to our family, our community, our nation and the environment." Roy Thomas Quoted with permission from the Ahnisnabae Art Gallery, Time and Life Calendar 2010. These beautiful calendars are now available at the Pictograph Galleries Annual Christmas Market. Louise Thomas, owner of the Ahnisnabae Art Gallery in Thunder Bay, is pleased to share her late husbands' images and beliefs with you in this beautiful and truly spiritual Time and Life Calendar. As time moves on, and the months and seasons change, embrace the symbolism of these images as you embrace life to the fullest and share the legacy of Roy Thomas. Also available are art cards, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the art cards will be donated to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation by his family. This is the last week of the Pictograph Galleries Annual Christmas Market, which will close on December 14. Don't miss this opportunity to buy something fabulous for the holidays. A showcase of local arts and crafts talent. A few of the contributors are the ever popular Vees Bees products by bee keeper/soap maker Vivian Gilmour. A unique item created by Vivian this year is her handmade soap encased in a felted wool face cloth which disappears as the soap is used. A luxurious experience, try one. Vivian also has available beautifully packaged variety of her guest size soaps. ||Whimisical glassware sets created by Deanna Goranson, graphic designs are painted then oven baked giving them a translucent appearance. Deanna has created wine glass sets with caraf, Santa plate and mug, serving trays, all with a touch of humour. All sorts of hand knit sweaters, mitts, touque sets by Carol Whalley, and tactile microwave oven mitts, and something I had never imagined hand crocheted pot scrubbers. What a nice gift combination one could create with any of Andreas pottery and Carols kitchen items. The men even got involved with a variety of submissions. Several carvings by Keith Strachan and Bruce James wonderful hand built wooden rocking horse and trivets, watercolor prints of recognizable locations in our area by Gord Ringius I could not let the column go by without mentioning the wonderful work by our most consitant Christmas Market contributor Arlene Spilchuk. The ever popular Christmas spiders are back along with beaded jewelry, snowflakes, mice, and satin balls. I'm pretty certain Arlene keeps us in mind when she spends countless patient hours creating her beaded work, and we are happy she does. I would love to see Arlenes Christams trees, I bet it sparkles!
