If you haven't made it down to the Gallery as of yet there is still time to come and take a look at one of the most amazing shows we have had the honor to display. It is Kristy Cameron”s “Inside Looking Out”. Kristy's show will be with us for one more week. It closes on September 26.
Kristy is a Metis artist who has just really started to explore her roots. She is a descendant of numerous voyageurs and “ Bay Boys”. Look carefully and see if you will be able to spot the voyageur sash and Hudson Bay colours. With Acrylics as her media of choice she has delved into the cultural and spiritual aspects of her heritage and in turn created a panoramic and visually satisfying story that unfolds a little bit more each time you view it.
Between shows the Gallery will be hosting it's first “Deals and Steals”. This is a twist on the very familiar “Flea Market'”. We have downsized a bit and are being a little more selective and all the items for sale will be top quality, in excellent working order and , of course, very affordable. There will be a little bit of everything but no clothing. Lots of toys for all ages, sporting equipment, household items and some “question motivators” to just list a few of the interesting items we will have for your purchasing pleasure. Start your Christmas shopping early. We may even have a Christmas corner. Remember Friday and Saturday October 2nd and 3rd from 12:00 to 5:00pm. Mark it on your calendar.
Our next show promises to be a resounding success as well. The Gallery will be featuring “ The Five L's”. Our own local Goransen girls - Linda, Liz, Lori, Lyla and Leanna - will be holding their show entitled “Differences Appreciated”. This intriguing show will open on October 10th and run until the 30th. Keep posted for more details.
Remember the Gallery is located in the basement of the Voyageur Mall. Our hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 to 3:00pm. You can also visit us on our website www.atikokanpictographgallery.com.
