Valerie Fraser The Pictograph Art Gallery is very pleased to announce Alisha gosselin has been hired through the assistance of the Province of Ontario Summer Experience Program. Alishas' enthusiasm for her community, interest in the arts and Quetico, volunteerism and past employment experiences working with the public gives Alisha the skills to serve our Artists and Gallery patrons. We open July with a much anticipated exhibit titled "forgetting Yourself" by local aboriginal artist Vanessa Keeash on Saturday July 3 at 1:00 p.m. Vanessa finds strength in communicating through her work. It is our honor to work with and show new work created by such a humble artist whose work astounds us. Vanessa has been studying fine arts at Georgian College for 3rd year in advanced fine arts. With encouragement from her art instructors Vanessa entered and was awarded the Randy Anderson Memorial Scholarship in April 2009, Exhibiting since 2000, Vanessa states that she is growing as an artist and excited about the opportunities she discovers to express her culture and self-awareness through various artistic mediums. Next weeks column will highlight more about "forgetting Yourself". Vanessa exhibit is a wonderful way to say hello to summer and visitors to our gallery and community. Remember the Pictograph Gallery will be open Monday - Saturday from 11:00 - 4:00 p.m., we are located on the lower level of The Voyageur Mall.
