Our current installment "Creative Minds" is a fabulous representation of the artisitc talents of the youth in our community. The wonderful inspiration these students receive throughout the year from their teachers is evident in this exhibit. There are black and white graphics, abstracts, portraits, stories and humor. The students aptly express their ideas in this visual medium. The youngest from the Rainbow Centre to the elemntary grade levels at North Star and St. Pat Schools. We would like to express our greatest appreciation to Tammy & Marc Simard for helping with the exhibit. "Creative Minds" closes June 20, be sure to get down to see this multi-media display, you will be amazed and walk away with a smile. Congratulations kids on a great show!
The Pictograph Gallery will be closed from June 20 until July 4. We re-open with a much anticipated exhibit by local artist Venessa Keeash. You may recall a compelling exhibit of acrylic portraiture done by Venessa installed at The Intergenerational Art Centre a few years ago. Vanessa has been attending school in Southern Ontario,now returning this summer to Atikokan, we are very excited to see her new work.
Great news!!.... there is still time to register your entry for the Quetico themed Juried Art Exhibit competition taking place this August. The Pictograph Gallery has extended the registration deadline from May 30 to JULY 15TH. We wish to thank all of the local artists that made sure they submitted their entry by the deadline of May 30, however we realize that our gallery was closed the week of, making it inconvenient for submissions. Artists had to track down a volunteer gallery board memeber to do so, our oversight, therefore we have voted to extend the date. The date for submission to the Gallery of the actual artwork is July 28th. The registration is an expression of interest, new deadline date of July 15th. The fee is $10.00 per entry, limit to two entries per artists. This juried exhibit is open to local talent only. A definition of local is anyone with an Atikokan mailing address. We have already received several entry registrations but will make room for more.
