Valerie Fraser
"A Splash of Color" take down was May 23rd. This wonderful colorful exhibit by regional artist Anne Siciliano was an absolute pleasure to behold. Several of Anne's tastefully matted, framed pieces are impressive full size watercolor sheets in wonderful hues of color. A beautiful exhibit, Anne's great talent and the assistance of an Ontario Arts Council grant made it all possible. The Ontario Arts Council helped to facilitate the framing of works as well cover costs for crating and transporting the exhibit to and from Dryden.
We look forward to visiting with Anne again later this summer as she conducts a workshop for the Pictograph Gallery on spray can art. Registrations will be at the gallery soon; plan to spend an August afternoon with us painting outdoors. Anne is a talented instructor, making her workshops fun and satisfying for all participants. Spray can art is a fairly new medium for this artist as she is always exploring new techniques and materials to produce and share with others. Anne conducted her popular watercolor workshop at the Pioneer Center this past weekend, offering enthusiastic inspiration and encouragement to her students. Always a pleasure Anne, come back soon!
The Pictograph Gallery would like to acknowledge the Ontario Arts Council for their contributions in supporting artist in our region. Artists wishing to explore, create, demonstrate and exhibit their artwork either in our gallery or
elsewhere can appoly for OAC funding through the Pictograph Gallery every fall. If you are an artist or interested member of our gallery and would like to know more about our affiliation with the Ontario Arts Council please feel free to contact any of our dedicated board members.
Perhaps one day in the future, when they are no longer students, we will be recommending some of the aspiring young artists contriburting to our next exhibit to the Ontario Arts Council. How exciting would that be? "Creative Minds" is our next unveiling to much anticipation. Chosen work will be on exhibit from May 30 - June 20. This is an annual event that we at the gallery really look forward to. This year we have a special treat in store. Included in this exhibit will be work from some very young at art. As frequent visitors to the gallery, the 234 Playgroup thoroughly enjoy their exposure to the art world and are very excited to be exhibiting their best work in the "Creative Minds" exhibit. It is quite amazing, the uninhibited art created by all of the children and youth in our community. Chris Spilchuk with the able assistance of Tammy Simard have been busy planning and organizing this year's exhibit. Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, and Teachers please join us as we applaud these young "Creative Minds" Opens this Sat. May 30 at 12: noon.
The Pictograph Gallery open Tuesday - Saturday from 12: - 3:00 p.m.
