Valerie Fraser
Hope everyone enjoyed their Victoria Day long weekend. The Gallery is a great stop on a leisurely day on these beautiful spring days. "A Splash of Color" by Anne Siciliano, brings the outdoors in. Anne's paintings celebrate the beauty of our region. Our featured artist likes to express herself painting landscapes. Her first introduction to artwork was a six week long workshop on pencil drawing, this lead to her invovlement in the Dryden Artists Association. From there she was introduced to watercolors and that became her medium of choice. She finds using watercolor challenging and that challenge drives her to try different methods to achieve interesting textures in her artwork. As long as she can remember Anne has enjoyed expressing herself through art, whether is was designing gardens, building furniture or even decorating her home, she found ways to express her creativity. Today Anne is well known as a watercolor artist in her community and region, having been commissioned on many occasions to do paitings for local businesses and schools. People have come to recognize her style by the vibrant colors she tends to use. Anne would like people to see the beauty that nature has to offer. Anne shares her knowledge of painting and drawing with private lessons and a series of ongoing workshops. In 2004 Anne became an active board member of the Dryden Regional Arts Council. Anne will be conducting a workshop in Atikokan at the Pioneer Center, May 22 & 23, contact Anne in Dryden directly to register.
We are especially pleased that Anne, along with a compliment of other professional artists has agreed to perform the difficult task of juror at The Pictograph Art Galleries Quetico themed art exhibit this coming August. Thank you for accepting our invitation Anne. Growing up in Atikokan, Anne has many memories of Quetico and returns to enjoy the experience yet again this summer as she participates in a two week artist in residency at Quetico Provinicial Park. I hope she plans a paint Quetico workshop. Expect to hear and see more of this wonderful artist and her work.
