Valerie Fraser The Pictograph Art Gallery is alive with brilliant color. "A Splash of Color" by Dryden artist Anne Siciliano on now until May 23, 2009. Many locals are familiar with our former Atikokanite Anne Siciliano, nee Gomes. Anne received a very warm welcome from fans, friends and family at her recent exhibit opening. This infamous Atikokanite has been painting since she first participated in a workshop twelve years ago and discovered pure enjoyment. She continues to participate in as many workships as possible, learning from other artists a variety of techniques to adapt to her own style. A busy mother and family life, involvement with the Dryden Regional Artists Association, and school bus driver, Anne celbrates life to the fullest. Reflecting her happiness with life, Anne is influenced by subject matter that surrounds her daily living, from beautiful landscapes, change of seasons, floral, and local arthictecture. While the majority of the recent installment is watercolor paintings, an especially exciting medium attracted the attention of many gallery visitors at the opening as Anne displayed her spary can art. The Pictograph Gallery is very excited to offer a workship instructed by Anne in this art form this coming August. Registrations and fees will be available soon. Students will be painting outdoors; quickly with a myriad of spray can paints. The final effect is intriguing. Several of Anne's pieces were futuristic, some simulating a fantasy solar system, cith light waterscapes, and graphic etchings. All done with palette knife and spray can paint. I am personally very excited to attempt this art form after receiving a quick tutorial from the artist. The finished work appears very quickly due to the drying time. Anne expresses that she was especially proud of the accomplishments of the Drydent Regional Artists Association as they celebrated the opening of Naked North Art Gallery on May 1. When visiting Dryden, do be sure to stop in at their new location, very easy to locate, the gallery is housed in the Tourist Information Building on Grand Trunk Hwy. 17. Max the Moose is on the front lawn. This is a wonderful thing for all regional artists and the community of Dryden. The diverse artistic talent in the region will benefit from this high exporsue, representing the true Northwestern Ontario lifestyle while attracting a vast audience of travelers on the Trans Canada Hwy. Visit the Gallery this week Tuesday - Saturdays from 12: - 3:00 "A Splash of Color" on now until May 23, 2009. A reminder to all artist entry registration deadline for the Juried Art Exhibit is May 30.
